Summer House

hope you had a wonderful weekend!  our Simply Sweet Retreat was a hit–and Simply Sisters Retreat Center is absolutely wonderful.  I neglected to take any pictures…but we got a lot finished.  Mom worked on and finished a new project using A Whisper of Roses by Maywood and a soft and subtle grey stitched down ruffle–so squishy and perfect for the upcoming summer months.  i will be quilting it tomorrow then we’ll get it in the washer and dryer…i won’t be here on Wednesday (my weekly day off), so i will be posting those lovely pictures on Thursday along with the next 4 blocks of Sylvia’s Sampler.

also, mom started the Summer House Pincushion from Honeysuckle Manor by Blackbird Designs.  i first talked about it here.  well, over the weekend i picked it up when we sat outside on the porch and i finished it!  i think i may have found a new hobby!  I LOVE IT!  so i finished it up last night and dated and initialed it this morning.  then we made the pincushion using crushed walnut shells, peach dot from A Whisper of Roses, brown EdMar thread, and some vintage buttons that match perfectly.  i took some pictures of it for you…and we are getting together an EdMar order real soon here and will be ordering in an assortment of threads, Blackbird books, needles, embroidery spring hoops, and embroidery books.  if you already have Honeysuckle Manor and would like the kit, let me know and i’ll figure out the price for you.

when we get these babies kitted they will include…Weeks Dye Works threads in Peach and Cappuccino, 2 vintage brown buttons (that match the thread beautifully, but don’t picture nearly as well), cross-stitch fabric (28ct…pattern calls for 30ct), fat quarter peach, and walnut shells.

we will keep you in the loop…have a wonderful afternoon–be sure to get outside and enjoy the weather!
