sun-washed update

mom finished up sun-washed yesterday.

batting will arrive tomorrow morning and i will get to work.  mom and i discussed the quilting…i’m thinking cream thread stitched in a tighter medium meander and only quilting in the background and setting triangles.  so the stars should pop out against the background after it has been washed.

today mom stayed home (tuesday is her day off), but she will probably finish off the Rufflestillskin, which uses the 5 inch square panel, a stripe, and yards of 1/2 inch ruffle…can’t wait to unveil that beauty!  she also started the Goose, Goose, Star table topper which has a center Sun-washed star with flying geese flying around it.

quilt mn this year our section theme is Let’s Go Glamping Lower-Mid MN style!  honestly, who doesn’t love glamping?  If you are new to Glamping…check out these boards on Pinterest…they are so delightfully, wonderful!  {this board is amazing and full of PINK!} {my glamping board…it is still in its infancy}

did you check them out?  if you did…how long were you on pinterest?  it took me 20 minutes to come back to finish this post.

if you aren’t on pinterest, but would like an invite…just email me at sweetwatercottonshoppe(at)yahoo(dot)com and i’ll send you an invite.

so now that you know the style…we’ll be bringing you this style…thoughs ours will be a lot more Minnesota…but we’ll still have the ruffles and the girly part!  we will be transforming the shoppe in the coming weeks as we get nearer to quilt mn…which starts a month from today…just 31 days away!  YIKES!

we hope to see you this August 2nd (i may have been telling people the 3rd) for Quilt MN 2013 or sooner if you are around!

our section has 2 buses set up…the Roadrunner bus is all but full with just a couple spots left…call Mary at Quilted Treasures in Rogers to sign-up.  the Glamping bus has been turned into a 1-day bus…hit all 8 shops in 1 day!  you will have 1 section done on day 1 of Quilt MN!  Call Gruber’s Quilt Shop in Waite Park to sign-up.  Camper foundation pattern and kit available for $1.00 with $10 purchase and when you finish our section recieve a Frosted Donut (a bobbin donut full of bobbins of luscious threads.)

keep in mind our section of 8 shops has 4 Top 10 shops in it–Gruber’s, Quilted Treasures, Sweetwater, and the newly inducted Noble Quilter in Elk River…be sure to congratulate Angie when you stop by!

have a wonderful afternoon!  {sylvia blocks will not be done this week…we will be closed on Thursday, July 4th, so you can catch-up.}

  1. Hi – I’m new to your blog. You said in your message that you’re getting your batting for the quilt. I’d love to know exactly what kind/s of batting you like to use for projects. Thx! – Anne in N.C.

    • anne-
      I’m so glad you found us! As for batting…we use 100% cotton batting. We prefer Warm and Natural or Warm and White and have recently tried the Pellon brand 100% cotton batting and loved that as well.
      Thanks for stopping by!

what do you think?
