sunny days and sundays

we have been busy little bees here at sweetwater.

precuts and spring lines have started to arrive and we’ve been putting together projects to get you ready for spring!  we even spent a little time on the porch this last week…I think the fresh air really helped kick the cold I had, but the citrusy punch of Refresh, Sandy Gervais’ newest line, may have helped!

This “refreshing” spring line is packed full of yellow, coral, soft green, tan, and more yellow!  We put together a decidedly delicious Pixie Sticks to show off the colors.  yardage will arrive on Thursday.  kits are available now!

remember the vintage picnic charms that arrived last month that have been floating around the shop for awhile now just waiting to be made into the something amazing.  well after tina put together a baby quilt for a co-worker using this same idea…we knew it was meant to be.  Sundays features a vintage picnic charm pack, white, and a gooseberry border.  I am LOVING this project…and the channel quilting in the white really sets off the blocks.

sundays

Primitive Hot Cocoa…I know…it is summer (almost), but the Hot Cocoa pattern calls out to us.  This simple star surrounded by “perfect-for-embroidery” space.  The original was made with shades of brown and brown embroidery on the deep aged cream background and was breathtaking…then we did a QM2015 version using a soft creamy background with brown and blue with no embroidery.  This version is very traditional featuring a mottled-almost-gold background with dark aqua, red, purple, green, and brown accents.  This little project features fabric from 4 different lines, embroidery, and wool appliqué.

back to summery goodness…I’m still English paper piecing…I finally quilted Charmed Garden and have it up.

it looks so nice mixed with the DWR and Sweet Confections.  Charmed Garden uses a charm pack of Regent Street, background, and binding.

I just love these Regent Street charms and how adorable are they on my pink ironing board.

Sweet Baby Love…I love brown and white.  The white cleans the brown, sharpens the edges, makes it sparkle.  This new version of Sweet Baby Love uses a F8th bundle of Double Chocolate and a border print…just double the pattern…and 1 yard is needed for the border and binding.  we used a walnut floral from mille couleurs.

lastly…Miss Scarlet…this lovely girl is full of warm red, scarlet, ivory, stone, and flax.  it features English style flowers, small shirting prints, tonals, paisleys, and dots.  I nabbed a bundle the second it arrived to make myself a grandmother’s flower garden using 1 1/4 inch hexies which arrived late last week.  I was inspired by @thesolitarymagpie over on instagram.  if you scroll back through her pictures you’ll come upon the loveliest flower garden using red, cream, and white prints.  I fell in love with it.  I am not a red person, but this flower garden grabbed me and never let go!  we have 1 lovely bundle left…

arriving later this week…Frivol 8 featuring Bread and Butter, Bread and Butter yardage, Refresh Yardage, and the long awaited arrival of the next issue of Simply Vintage.  I can hardly wait to get my little fingers on one of these.  The Christmas one (which is sold out) was such a hit…full of SO many new ideas…can’t wait to see what this issue brings!

until later…happy stitching!
