deck the halls

we’ve decked our halls and have up our tree.  check out the pictures below.  i have some pics of the outside but they didn’t turn out.  i’ll take a few earlier in the evening and see how those turn out.  enjoy!

mel and tina putting the antique beads (a combination strand from Grandma Andrajack and Grandma Zimmer) on the tree.  Hannah’s Legacy is to the right of tina.

Mom’s new tree skirt {Christmas Romance} made from chocolate, peachy pink, and cream.  (we have a topper in store that is made from the same colors…gorgeous and perfect for a shabby christmas).

a few of our favorite handmade holiday greetings and antique mercury glass bulbs

the stockings were hung by the fireplace with care

they are hard to see but the snowflakes are glittered and hanging from the rod.  they are a chocolatey-red color and delightful against the white in soft light.

we are still watching Christmas movies…Prancer, How the Grinch Stole Christmas? Jim Carrey version, The Santa Clause 2, It’s a Wonderful Life [NOTE:  this movie was super-fantastic], National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation…still to come The Holiday, The Family Stone [if we can find it], and i’ve heard that Love Actually is a Christmas movie, but have never seen it.  Is it good?  Is it worth $13?

we hope your home is full of warmth this holiday season…april  {sweetwater}

fruit punch cards

fruit punch cards…we are bringing them back.  these will work a little bit different.  the cards will only be worth $10 dollars in merchandise when filled but they only have $100 dollars on them and block of the month, sale items, scrap bags, machine quilting, classes, retreats, and sales tax will NOT be punched.  also, these punch cards MUST be kept in our recipe box…they will be void if they leave sweetwater.  we are asking that all old punch cards be redeemed if they are full if they aren’t we will still punch them.

december snow

December is in the air.  they are even talking about a blizzard…it is December though.  i forgot the batteries at home, so i still don’t have any pictures of the shop ready to go.  It is quite pretty, with all the trees (5 this year) and the lights that twinkle and the christmas music that plays in the background.

we’re even finished decorating at home…we’re getting our tree this coming weekend.  i promise to take pictures of everything (since so many ask what our house looks like).  Christmas is one of our favorite holidays to decorate for.  all the wonderful decor, simple lights, and holiday aromas that come with this holiday make this time of year so very merry.

be sure to stop in and see the lights…it is truly “merry & bright” here at sweetwater.  christmas is everywhere you turn…

hope your december is both “merry & bright”…apriL   sweetwater

christmas

Christmas is only 20 days away, and that includes today and today is half over already!  Crazy…

Machine quilting has been constant lately, i finally caught up today when i finished up the last one about an hour ago.  If you want a quilt quilted by Christmas, drop it off…the sooner the better, so i can get it back to you so you can bind it and get it wrapped for that special someone.

Every winter at Christmas we vow we will watch all our Christmas movies as a way to celebrate the holidays.  We never have, with the holidays we are busy cleaning, wrapping, and decorating.  Well this year we are…so far we’ve already watched…Fred Claus, The Santa Clause, White Christmas, The Christmas Card, and The Christmas Carol.  Still on the list National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, The Nightmare Before Christmas, among others.  It is quite fun…

I promise…once i have batteries i’ll post some pictures of the shop Christmas dispays along with maybe a picutre or two of our home once it’s decked for the holidays.

happy holidays, apriL

Cabin in the Woods

Cabin in the Woods uses Astor Manor by 3 Sisters for Moda.  This kit is identical and uses fat quarters for the blocks…it is truly scrappy…and for the binding.  the border is a gorgeous brown floral and the narrow is a fun pink.  it was quilted and washed and is just comfy cozy.  a Mona Lisa Tote is a fun companion to this quilt.  Quilt finishes at 90 inches square and the kit is $140 and the pattern is $8.  we only of 3 kits left…get them before they are gone.  happy quilting, april Cabin in the Woods1
