Christmas is only 20 days away, and that includes today and today is half over already! Crazy…
Machine quilting has been constant lately, i finally caught up today when i finished up the last one about an hour ago. If you want a quilt quilted by Christmas, drop it off…the sooner the better, so i can get it back to you so you can bind it and get it wrapped for that special someone.
Every winter at Christmas we vow we will watch all our Christmas movies as a way to celebrate the holidays. We never have, with the holidays we are busy cleaning, wrapping, and decorating. Well this year we are…so far we’ve already watched…Fred Claus, The Santa Clause, White Christmas, The Christmas Card, and The Christmas Carol. Still on the list National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, The Nightmare Before Christmas, among others. It is quite fun…
I promise…once i have batteries i’ll post some pictures of the shop Christmas dispays along with maybe a picutre or two of our home once it’s decked for the holidays.
happy holidays, apriL
I’ve finally downloaded the pictures from our retreat which was already 2 weeks ago! Time sure flies…

We had 22 people total over the 5 days…i didn’t get the camera out until Saturday evening…so i don’t have any pictures of Anne, Joyce, Lou, Shirley, Barb, Bonnie, Kris. Denni and Mom declined being photographed, and i took them, so no picutres of me.
We’ll have our trees up and the lights lit. Stop by between 10am and 2pm and partake in the Make N Take or watch a demo. We’ll have goodies for you to munch and storewide sales.
Happy Quilting–april sweetwater
Cabin in the Woods uses Astor Manor by 3 Sisters for Moda. This kit is identical and uses fat quarters for the blocks…it is truly scrappy…and for the binding. the border is a gorgeous brown floral and the narrow is a fun pink. it was quilted and washed and is just comfy cozy. a Mona Lisa Tote is a fun companion to this quilt. Quilt finishes at 90 inches square and the kit is $140 and the pattern is $8. we only of 3 kits left…get them before they are gone. happy quilting, april
Sunday, November 22nd…is Paynesville Save-or Sunday event. Downtown shoppes will be open from 10am-2pm following the Holiday Breakfast and horse drawn wagon rides. shop and save…with $2.00 off a yard (1 yard minimum) all yardage…including Astor Manor and Millhouse Inn! All other items (including kits, bundles, fat quarters, and rolls). Stop by for machine quilting coupons…and drop off that quilt top you need quilted for the holidays…
Other in-store fun along with sweet treats, coffee, and maybe even a make n take or a demo…we’re still trying to decide. i’ll keep you updated.
i also have pictures from the retreat…i’ll get them up either today or tomorrow–there is just so much that needs to get done.
Our 3rd Ladies Night OUT! was so much fun. we had women piecing our travel tissue covers, getting their palm or tarot cards read! we were all dressed up…we had a fairy, mad scientist, Mrs. Lovett, and Madame Anastazia Melonia telling fortunes. i’m sorry…but with all the hub bub we didn’t take a single picture all night…our “candy bar” however…has only a handful of rolo, m&m’s, and mounds left. the next one will be in the spring…tentativly planned for Friday, April 30th (my birthday…so we’ll have some extra special deals going on).
Have a Happy and Safe Halloween…and happy quilting,
we got in the most adorable flannel for the upcoming winter season. the panel has dancing snowmen (and women) on it and is absolutly adorable. we put together a quick throw called Chilly, easy to whip up for the winter baby. kits are $35.00 including binding and the pattern is $4.00. we backed it with a fun green flannel script.
i also have a picture of the fun bag mom put together using Astor Manor strips. we have it kitted using a half jelly roll and yardage of a fun houndstooth. kits are $40 and the pattern is $8.00. Chocolate grommets are $10.99.
Paynesville Ladies Night Out is coming up on Friday, October 30 from 8pm-midnight. Come dressed up and our secret judges will be on the prowl. We’ll be having a sew and go to make “Sweet Sniffles Hanky Holder”. $2.00 will get you a kit, so you can sit and sew it up. Wine will be served along with Halloween Candy. Check out our fortune teller Madame Anastazia Melonia who will be telling fortunes by way of tarot cards and palms from 9:30-midnight. $2.00 each.
mom put together a new flannel throw…it is so cute with snowmen (and women) on it. it is green and blue, so it is perfect for the Christmas season. we also got in a pre-printed log cabin for a simple Christmas table runner. mom has these at the White Bear Lake Quilt Show so i don’t have any pictures for you. She also finished up the Mona Lisa Tote using Astor Manor…gorgeous, but also with her in White Bear. I’ll take some pictures of them on Monday, so be sure to check back. The flannel throw “Chilly” has a limited number of kits, so let me know if you are interested.

autumn seems to have left early and let winter come. this picture is from the side door of our garage looking out into the backyard the morning of our first snowfall this year. winter wonderland indeed.
yesterday we got in part of our first order of Astor Manor by 3 Sisters. this line is yummy…yes, i mean yummy with its strawberry, chocolate, cherry, cream, and champagne. all we have right now are fat quarter bundles, but we will be making a new Mona Lisa Tote out of this line using the houndstooth woven pictured below and chocolate grommets.
