happy saturday! Hopefully you have found a moment to stitch something or at least spend time doing a fabric pull for a new project or maybe even cutting out a hexie flower or 2.

our porcelain yardage arrived a few weeks ago and was a welcome addition to the shoppe with these chilly days it was nice having something soft and sweet and pastel in the shop.

this last week our precuts finally arrived and i’ve finally gotten them online.

porcelain precuts

we just couldn’t resist those cottage chic pastel palette…

our porcelain precuts and yardage are available online and in-store…if you live close enough we’d love to see you!

have a wonderful weekend!

quilting in january

how’s it going in your neck of the woods this afternoon? it’s a tad chilly at 19F feels like 10F and the next week or so we are looking at subzero highs…time to pull out an old project, nab a new project, or cozy up with coffee and your tablet and do a little bit of online shopping.

if you are looking for a little something-something to take your mind of winter…Porcelain by 3 Sisters arrived today (we have ordered up 3 more bolts which will arrive sometime next week) and it has us dreaming of springtime.

Porcelain features soft shades of grey, mist, blossom, and porcelain and the flowers are romantic, gentle, and sure to fit seamlessly with their previous collections…Victoria and Poetry to name a few.

Cottage Hearts, Porcelain, & Amberley

we tucked it in with our walk-in display…i love how it mixes with other cottage style florals…can’t wait until we get some projects finished up.

we have porcelain yardage available online and in-store…precuts are still on order and expected later this month.

we do have a few things on the agenda

  • English Paper Piecing tutorial
  • chunky thread (YARN!!!) by Lori Holt of Bee in My Bonnet is expected tomorrow so a little crochet is on the horizon.
  • 4 x 5 Quilt Block Anthology…mom is done with the blocks for the first column (we’ll have each column available as a kit once i get that all figured out…)
  • project featuring Garden Variety…a wonderful quilt to use for the Easter festivities…

just a few things on my list…now back to Ring of Roses…i’ve decided to spend the last hour or so every work day working on her…i’ll do a post on Ring of Roses once i get a little bit more finished up.

Lucy Boston…i’ve neglected Lucy’s Summer Cottage…but my goal for 2019 is to get some of the unfinished projects finished…i have several both large and small that i would like to get finished…so here’s hoping! i’m hoping to do a Lucy Tuesday’s next week…January 29th. maybe i’ll have working on her a little bit.

happy stitching! –stay warm & cozy–

Victoria collection

happy sunday!  spring seems to have arrived…compared to a week ago when we were 3 days into a snowstorm with a day and half left…the windows are open, birds, chirping, and the sun is shining.

it is the perfect day to showcase our new project using the Victoria collection by 3 sisters…this grouping of soft linen white, rose and rouge, light denim and dark is a wonderful spring indulgence.  the prints are classic…dots, checks, and florals.

Spring Romance…a quick-to-stitch spring project is sure to please and the colors could easily transfer over to a patriotic display later into summer.  it is a perfect porch quilt for cool spring nights or rainy summer days.

spring is here…as of yesterday…which makes it the perfect day to get our Beachy quilt out, kitted, and displayed.

this bed size quilt measures 76 x 92 inches and features big rectangle blocks.  This project is a breeze for beginners and advanced quilters…and it showcases wovens, dobby dots, pintucks, and checks and stripes in signature beach colors…blush, stone, porcelain, rose, and mist.

it blends well with the sun dappled Stars in the Garden which reside over our mantle.

We have 1 yard cuts folded and ready.

lastly…1 more picture of Beachy…

poetry & romance

good morning!

our newest line, Poetry Collection by 3 Sisters has arrived and we are completely in love!

This collection of soft, subtle, & romantic florals is just what we had in mind for some pastel, spring/summer projects.  We cherry picked a grouping of grey, pink, teal, and pearl white…then pulled in coordinates from the shop.  the final display is breathtakingly romantic!

Christmas Morning Quilt Along & I love Lucy Boston stitch along

okay everyone…I hope you are loving this autumn weather!  it is brisk and beautiful around here…the leaves are really starting to pop with coral, red, orange, and yellow with even some purple here and there.

I thought I would pop in for a moment today.  I have compiled some information for you today regarding the Christmas Morning Quilt Along.  I don’t have much and had been hoping to give you all the cutting instructions today, but we are going to start loading the car for the Walker Quilt Show as soon as I finish up, and I do not want to make any errors (there are LOTS of little pieces).

just new…

i promised some pictures…

first off…i’d like to apologize because the next picture is of Christmas precuts.  i know, it isn’t June, nor has it been any kind of warm for 2 days in a row, and we haven’t even put crops in or planted flowers.  that is why i’m getting this picture out of the way.  it IS really pretty…and makes me want to curl up with some cocoa and watch White Christmas.

Winterlude is 3 Sisters’ new holiday line.  Lovely holly, crimson, parchment, and frost round out this breathtaking line.  we have honeybuns, charm packs, and mini charm packs available.

now that we have that out of the way…how about some springtime colors…

i do not have this baby named yet…but no worries, i’m finishing up the pattern and getting that all squared away, so kits should be on the shelf and online sometime next week.  i just LOVE the simple embroidery…it just finishes it!

here is a shot of the entire topper…isn’t it just yummy looking?  it just makes my mouth water!

fig again

Lavender…this sweet little pillow uses some super sweet embroidery…we just used white…for that down-home, shabby chic touch to it.  kits next week!

love this!  (but then we both love pincushions and any excuse to make one we’ll take it!)  this pincushion uses scraps of wool and you guessed it…painters’ cloth which is our go-to grey for all things shabby!  we are finishing up this pattern and getting some kits cut.  can’t guarantee what wool will be included, but i can guarantee that there will be 8 DIFFERENT wools in each kit…so your finished product will have the same feel as ours.  i also love how mom finished it…but more on that next week.

Lastly…Lilac Lane.  Isn’t she lovely?

lilac laneIt is getting to be that time again!  BLT’s and S’Mores for supper…then maybe some pattern writing…i have a lot to catch up on!

saltwater taffy and sassafras

we sure hope you are all staying warm!  it was -20 on monday morning so we opted to stay home, but we were here bright and early yesterday morning.  this morning wasn’t even so bad…it is currently 27° above 0, so that’s nice–at least the car will start after work today.

yesterday we finished up a couple of things, which is always good.

this project uses those little moda candies…who doesn’t love little bits of “candy”…escpecially when it comes in moda flavors?  am i right?

Saltwater Taffy

this yummy treat measures 85 x 96 inches and uses 4 moda candies, yardage for the background, cornerstones, border, and binding.  we added a little 2 1/2 inch raw-edge ruffle, so it has a little bit of whimsy to it.  we used an unbleached muslin for the background then quilted with white thread and warm and white batting.  it is just so luscious…perfect spring/summer colors for this long cold January.

we have it kitted without the muslin in case you would rather use a different background…but we do have the muslin cut and tied.taffy1

next up…

this scrappy pinwheel quilt busts into those scraps…we have lots, so this was just the ticket.  Pinwheel chains surround faux diamond stars.  the civil war prints are set against an unbleached muslin, so they all pop.  then we finished it off with a civil war poison green and bubblegum pink binding.  this quilt measures approximately 81 x 81 inches…we don’t do many square quilts, but this one is a keeper.  this will be kitted with 30–fat 8ths, so you will have quite an assortment of wonderful civil war prints to pick from.  the background will be bundled separately if you’d rather use a vintage muslin, white, or reproduction shirting.

lastly…another Sweet Delight is finished and ready.  This one is decidedly not seasonal, but classic indigo, brown, and off-white.  Indigo 9-Patch is kitted and ready to go.

indigo 9-patch

these are not in the etsy shoppe yet…still working on a couple of patterns, but you will see them in the next couple days.

we do have a show this weekend, so we will not be in the shoppe.  if you are around the Red Wing area, be sure to stop by the Evenings Stars quilt show at Sargent’s Nursery Saturday and Sunday.

stay warm!  xoxo–a&m  {sweetwater}

{Moon Pies, Sweet Rolls, and Tuscany}

we’ve only had the blog for a year and half…

and i just figured out how to change the font size.

it is that cute little pop down menu on the tool bar that says format.

so getting on with things…summer is winding down to a close…EXCITEMENT ***bubbles*** my favorite season is waiting around the corner.  i love the fall colors, changing leaves, glistening frost, rustling corn, farmers working their fields late into the night, and fresh fall produce pumpkins, gourds, and squash.

we gave our “porch” and windowed wall a little make over…check out Sonata below.

mom finished up Moon Over Tuscany using 3 Sisters’ fall collection, Luna Notte.  it’s an elegant mix of black, red, pink, grey, acqua (yes, that is how it is spelled on the invoice), and buttermilk.  it is reminiscent of our Lisbon pattern, which uses Portugal by April Cornell.  our new version uses a chenille as the setting triangles.  they are subtle but give it a little texture.  the quilt ends up square, but lovely nevertheless.  the leftover rectangles make up the Moon Pie throw pillow.

these are the kits ready to be tied, tagged, and displayed.
and these rolled beauties are our sweet rolls for the Sweet Treat Bag
(back center). Fabrics from front and then clockwise: Quilt MN, Aviary,
Millicent, Kansas Winter, Crazy 8, Nostalgia, Hello Betty Retro.

That’s all for now!  Don’t forget to check out the above tab “Sweet BEE Retreat” for all information regarding the fall retreat.  if you have any questions feel free to give us a call…320.243.4436.

have an excellent evening…hope to see you around the shoppe in the upcoming weeks…

happy quilting!   april  {sweetwater}
