Scrumptious 4-Patch featuring Chantilly

good afternoon! i finished up our Scrumptious 4-Patch yesterday and ran it through the wash…and let me tell ya…it is scrumptious!

Chantilly is Fig Tree’s newest collection and Chantilly is the most perfect name for this range. A soft white (chantilly) is the backdrop for most of the prints we cherry-picked. Tones of luscious melon, gerbera, geranium, and forget me not really bring this collection together and make it perfect for some delightful springtime 4-patches.

Ruffle…instead of binding we opted for a hand-torn ruffle in Bella Bleach. the quilt just called for a ruffle to make it even more floofy and girly! kits are available…i’ve linked them after all the pictures…i just couldn’t pick 1 or 2 or 3…they are just so pretty!

bespoke brimfield

good morning!  we’ve had a little bit of weather overnight with the snow starting yesterday about 4ish…so that’s always fun this late in the season.  thought maybe a little bespoke Brimfield would brighten up your day!

i started basting the Brimfield pieces in early March.  i’m addicted to tiny florals…and had whipped up a bespoke tiny floral bundle.  it was that bundle that i knew i had to use for my Brimfield.

bespoke tiny floral bundle:  features 26 tiny florals (reminiscent of Liberty of London prints) from a variety of collections from a variety of designers from Washington Street Studios, Moda Fabrics, and Lecien.  I chose to mix cottage style florals, 30’s reproduction, and a couple more modern prints.  all the prints are floral in nature…no dots, stripes, plaids, or checks.  the colors range from cream and white, to yellow blue, grey, brown, red, pink, green, and black.  (if you can’t resist tiny florals…the bundle is available…bespoke tiny florals)

bespoke tiny florals

Brimfield mixes English paper pieces (my favorite) with applique which i had never really done, but thought it was high time i gave it a good old college try.  (i have only ever done needle-turn which i seemed to have issues with the fabric moving around on me–plus i have never taken any classes on applique…so that doesn’t help any.)

i used the technique used by Linda Hohag of brandywine design.  i’m planning on doing a tutorial on it…i have the pics just have to sit down and write it up..

…so i set to work basting, piecing, and then appliqueing the Brimfield rings.  Mom pieced the rows together for me then i quilted it…really close together so it had an old look to it once it was washed.

i just love how it turned out…all cozy and crinkly…

Cozy Tuck featuring Freya and Friends

good afternoon!  i’m blogging from home today.  it has been a little while since a non-Lucy post so i thought i better get on that since so much fun stuff has been rolling through the door.

today i decided on Cozy Tuck…featuring Freya and Friends by Janet Clare for Moda Fabrics…

the sweeet, petite prints from Freya and Friends are delightful…sweet little hexagons, ditzy flowers, and geometrics are reminiscent of vintage tiny florals.  a couple novelty prints round out our grouping of cherry-picked prints.  we chose our tried and true strippy quilt pattern to showcase Freya and finished it off with a classic tuck.

Cozy Tuck measures approximately 42 x 54 inches…we have it kitted with the tuck and then the option to add backing.

Pretty Bundles and EPP projects

hope you had a wonderful weekend!  we stayed in…I worked on my Jeweled Starflower, took in a little Netflix…dreamed of future projects…(**my list is getting longer by the moment**)

Brimfield Awakening is on the list of projects to do (at some point in the near future after a few other projects…)

however, I may (and by may I mean have already started) to pull together a grouping of prints to use for it.  This bundle of Pretty by Hand’s First Romance is going to be my starting point.  I LOVE the cute little prints, the variety of pinks…that blue…ohmygodgorgeous!  how have i not listed this delightful bit of fabric heaven online?!  well…it is available now…i linked it up…above.

this is Brimfield Awakening…it combines EPP with a little bit of Appliqué.

Roses & Chocolate II…a lovely mixture of peachy pink, chocolate, soft creamy vanilla yellowish, and green.  A perfect bundle to add to your floral mixture…(i have used most of these in the Lucy Boston Summer Cottage blocks).

Mrs. Billings Coverlet…will be my next endeavor…though about a month ago i said to mom, “You know, it takes so long to hand piece these big quilts (Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses, Dear Jane, Double Wedding Ring), I’m thinking i might only work on small projects for awhile.  They won’t take so long to get done.”  Well, then I’m cruising around on Paper Pieces website looking through their designer packs and low and behold this little darlin’ popped up and i was like…OMG…adding that to the list.  ( also added Ring of Roses to my list…that designer pack will be on my next order…plus it is smaller at about 53 x 49 inches…only 900 pieces…piece o’ cake!!)

i do have the Mrs. Billings Coverlet pattern, acrylics templates, and complete paper piece pack ready to go if you’d like to tackle it.  it measures 94 x 94 inches.

the quilter’s bookshelf

since this is a holiday week…I have opted to forgo Lucy Tuesday and Farmer’s Wife Friday.  with so much going on…we could all use a week to play catch-up, sit back, relax, run ourselves a cup of coffee, and snuggle up with a good book.

we’ve gotten in a some new titles that we are adding to our personal quilty bookshelf.

Lucy Tuesdays week 20

we hope you’ve been following along…if you are just popping in…this is week 20 of Lucy Tuesdays…

a little info…

Lucy Boston stitched the lovely Patchwork of the Crosses in the late 1950’s.  She used lovely prints and did the most amazing fussy cutting to create her breathtaking blocks.

She used 2 different shapes…honeycomb and square.

I pieced a Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses a couple years ago though my original was made of Civil War fabrics…I fell for the POTC made from florals.  (for the blog post featuring my Lucy Boston Patchwork of the Crosses…Jane and Lucy)

so I decided to do another round of the Lucy potc blocks, but this time I would offer kits for the blocks.

Since each block can have between 1 and 4 different fabrics (depending upon fussy cutting) I thought it would be fun to see the various layouts…it’s amazing how different it looks when you move around colors.

pattern card with color layout and cutting instructions

Kits will be $8.
