–remember…the shop will have normal hours thru Friday…we will be closed on Saturday, February 15th. Normal hours will resume President’s Day, Monday, February 17th.
check out our Be Mine sale…celebrating our love of all things stitchy and fabricy and quilty…i’ve linked it here.
ps…some new things are on the way…lots of Precuts to be exact…Rue 1800 and Lancaster…just in time for the weekend…i’ve gotten them listed online if you’d like to be the first to get yours…Rue 1800 here and grab Lancaster here.
i’m just about to package up our online orders, have lunch, and crack open our newest arrival…Bramble Cottage and thought i would pop in for a quick check-in.
i’m sure before i’m done writing this post i will have done all 3 of those things above….
a few 2020 things…i’ve updated our events page. you can check out our shows and shop hops there. also…most show dates we will be closed.
the bookstore and gallery have changed their hours…they will be closed on Monday and Tuesday with normal hours the rest of the week. THIS WILL NOT AFFECT OUR SHOP HOURS. we will still have the same hours as before…just closed if we are at a show since Monica will not be around to keep an eye on things.
however, our day off during the week will now be different. Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday both of us will be working the shoppe. Mom’s day off will now be Wednesday and my day off will now be Thursday. It will take me awhile to get used to this.
we’ve done a little rearranging…and honestly, aren’t we always doing a little rearranging? well, we got rid of our “office” cuz it was more of a catchall…we tossed things we’ve had since we moved to this location which was like 11 years ago.
we are doing a little painting…adding a few new pieces of furniture…once our rearrange is complete…then a little (or a lot) of vacuuming and maybe a coffee break and dare i say a new quilty project!
(i’m back from the post office and just finished lunch…)
we have a few of those quilty projects i mentioned above in the queue and hopefully once we get all the painting, moving around, and re-displaying out of the way we can get a project done.
looks like i won’t get Bramble Cottage unpacked before i finish up this post…however, i do have some bundles to share.
Valentine’s Day is coming up quick…(we have a wedding the 15th so the shop will be closed)…in celebration we have a couple bundles and my Cottage Hearts pillow kitted up again…
Cottage Hearts…i, as a rule, am not a big fan of hearts which i’m sure i mention every time this pillow pops up somehwere…however, i LOVE this pillow, and when i see it around the shoppe i begin to think of making a quilt. not sure if i would do 16 heart patches with sashing, or just 16 heart patches straight set without sashing. i debate and debate then decide to focus on the projects i have started or already have ready to start or that project i drool over online (ahem…Stonefields) and put it to the back of my mind. but alas, it creeps back in.
is a Cottage Hearts quilt something that you would want? are you looking for a heart quilt to add to your life? feel free to let me know.
either way…the pillow is done, kitted, on the bed in the window…nab the kit here if you missed our last year.
a few bundles to lighten your stash and perfect for that Valentine’s Day project you’ve been wanting to start.
low volume valentine would be perfect for a red/pink version of Melany Square…you can find that post here. just add in several more prints and get started! low volume valentine is available here.
My Redwork Garden…classic, creamy vanilla, and Bunny Hill…truly delightful. so pretty i chose a picture of these bundles to be my header for the Valentine season this year. so crisp and pretty.
This bundle…Red Velvet Blondies is a pantry pack (4–1/2 yards)…perfect for stash building, civil war projects, Christmas/Valentine’s Day, or mix in with other low volume prints for a fun low volume project. Grab your Red Velvet Blondies here.
now on to Bramble Cottage and some more rearranging.
Ring of Roses needs a run through the washer and dryer…but i couldn’t resist a better pic of it.
Ring of Roses is made using a mixture of French General, Jo Morton, Jennifer Chiaverini, and Betsy Chutchian…we do have it kitted complete with pattern, acrylics, papers, and fabrics for front and binding.
Happy weekend! mom has finished up the Urban Cottage Blanket, and we’ve set the bed for the February…think lovely pillows, pink, black, and a little bit of Urban Cottage.
This lightweight blanket is perfect for the hygge style…just add a few candles, a cup of your favorite hot beverage…i prefer coffee or cocoa, and maybe some stitching or family time.
If you prefer a little more Romantic Prairie style…it works for that too…we added black and white ticking pillows to our bed to help mix the white pillows with the cream-y toned blanket so it will work with all your black, white, and cream linens, slipcovers, or cushions.
Cottage Style…now…we realize that cottage style tends to lean more towards white, cream, grey, and softer pastels. But every once in a while…we are surprised by how much we love a little infusion of black. These pretty woven prints, big roses, and lovely toweling were just what we were looking for…there is even a little grey in the collection. We added the Cottage Hearts pillow, the Be Mine pillow, and a red linen heart on batting pillow to make it more Valentine’s Day. (When Easter/springtime rolls around pull out the bunnies and soft pastels…)
we used the toweling for the border…cuz we love those stripes…then instead of layering it with backing and batting we finished the edges on the back side so you can use it as is.
we do have the urban cottage blanket kit available over on the website here.
good afternoon-evening-ish! we are wrapping up the day here, but I thought I’d take a minute to pop in with a pic or 2 of a few of our newest and favorite-ist things…
studio throw…this cozy little throw will imbue any studio with the warmth of the season…whether Christmas or Valentine’s Day…or even if you live in a cute little English Cottage (which if you do…I’m so jealous!!!), this cozy little throw is perfect for snuggling up, draping over the sofa, or rolling and storing in a basket. it features the prettiest French General wovens from their Atelier de France collection which celebrates 20 years of French General (yay!).
Studio Throw uses a layer cake along with a bit of yardage. I am loving this little throw…it is just scrummy! we have a handful of kits available over on the website.
studio throw measures approximately 60 x 70 inches.
also…I couldn’t resist whipping up some tasty bundles…
good afternoon! we have another valentine’s day approved project for you…
we have a new addition to our Sweet Confections pattern collection….and just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Cherry Cordial measures just 12 x 12 inches and is perfect for the 12 inch large stands. It features rouge red and white. Classic, elegant, and sweet…features English paper piecing, applique, and some fun embroidery.
Perfect for your table top valentine vignette…just add a little pink dish of chocolates (pink and red peanut M&Ms are my favorite!) and you are good to go!
we are gearing up for February…which means we get to go a little overboard with pink (but really is there such a thing as too much pink?)
Anyways…I’m not sure if I liked Pretty in Pink the movie…I have blended that movie with Sixteen Candles…either way I prefer the Breakfast Club and our English Garden in shades of pink.
This project is so pretty…mom and I have both called dibs on it and Mel hasn’t even seen it yet; she’s a big fan of pink too!
English Garden is 88 x 106 inches and features 10 shades of pink ranging from cotton candy to rouge. Then we used a bleached muslin for the sashing, a small floral for the cornerstone 9-patch, a small rose print for the border, a cream and dark rosey-pink for the check binding.
Kits are ready to go and identical. Online and in-store.
***valentine’s day approved***
My Stars in the Garden featuring Brenda Riddle micro-prints is up in the shoppe. We have it framed and over the mantle in the window. It pops against the white frame and white wall. If you are thinking of tackling it…check out the complete kit or a pattern.
